Imagine swinging in a hammock under 100-year-old olive trees in the warm Spanish sun, or wandering the Moorish-inspired gardens with your notebook until you find the perfect space for contemplation. Imagine sinking deeply into your book idea at all hours of the day—while watching the soft sunrise over Andalusian hills, during the lazy, siesta afternoons, gripped with inspiration in the wind-chime-filled night, even visited by the Muse while you dream. Imagine giving yourself the gift of a creative reset for both body and mind, a week nestled in the golden hills of southern Spain where you will have the time, support, and focus to take your writing to the next level.

Now imagine having a true breakthrough with your book idea, gaining much-needed understanding, insight, and enthusiasm you can bring home. And imagine doing this with a trusted mentor who has been through the book process many many times, and who understands the many nuances, the ups and downs of making progress and peace with a big project.
For a entire week you will have both a coach and your creative community right across the dinner table: asking about your characters, applauding your progress, and delighting in your many discoveries and revelations.

How it would feel to say yes to yourself, to carve out precious time to sink deeply into your work with like-minded others in a location that will inspire fresh perspectives—a true creative reset to go deeper into your ideas?
All creatives need time to retreat. Whether you are a veteran writer or just returning to the page after some time away, making the time to commune deeply with ourselves, to really listen to the profound whispers our work, is an important and necessary counterpoint to our usual daily grind. When you spend time with your Muse in novel, supportive, imagination-inducing spaces that prioritize the creative process, you become more able to access your own deep wisdom and have those special, elusive “a-ha!” moments.

Maybe you need to conceive of a new idea or lean into a pivot point. Maybe you need to rethink the big picture or find new focus. Certain parts of the creative process require us to go deeper, to carve out space to commune and reckon with our work. Whether your book is fiction or creative non-fiction, this is the container of inspiration, motivation, community and support you have been wanting to bring your ideas to fruition.

Together we will embark on a journey of listening, collaborating, and building trust with our stories and each other. We will loosen any old habits or belief systems that might be holding us back, and we will courageously write into the mystery: willing to be remade, willing to stay open hearted–and most importantly, willing to take our proper and humble position—as the artistic conduit entrusted to each glorious birth.

Is an award-winning author of six books including After the Rapture (2023), Madam Velvet’s Cabaret of Oddities (2018), The Vixen Scream and Other Bible Stories (2014), The Monster Opera (2013), Searching for Suzi: a flash novel (2009), and Going Short: An Invitation to Flash Fiction (2020).

Her work has been honored in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, The Foreword Indies, TheInternational Book Awards, Reader Views Book Awards and theColorado Book Awards, and her stories have been anthologized widely, appearing in the Norton anthology New Micro: Exceptionally Short Fiction and The Best Small Fictions, as well as adapted for both stage and screen.
